Kerala State Eligibility Test (KSET) -2018

KSET (Kerala State Eligibility Test) is organised by the government of Kerala for enhance teaching standards and maintain teaching standards at higher education  level in Kerala. Thus  in order to be appointed as Higher Secondary School teachers as well as non-vocational teachers in VHSE,  candidates need to clear KSET mandatorily.  Here is an update for candidates that Kerala SET 2018 results have been announced. LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram has declared exam dates for  KSET July 2018.

All candidates who wants to secure a teaching job in the state of Kerala, need to clear Kerala SET exam. the minimum percentage of marks that every candidate need to secure to pass set is under:-

This KSET  entrance test was of 4 hours duration. In this test, aspirants had to give two papers, while the first paper was same for all. Paper II contained questions from the subject in which the candidate had a specialization at post graduation level.

Candidates meet Kerala SET exam 2018 eligibility criteria of they have master’s degree in a specific subject with no less than 50% aggregate marks or equivalent grade on the other hand aspirants should have a B.Ed degree in any discipline from a recognised Institute/University in Kerala or possess this qualification from any other University which has recognised by a higher educational body. However, there are some exceptions to the above-mentioned eligibility criteria for KSET exam 2018 these exceptions are below:-

1. Mathematics Physics and Chemistry

Have M.Sc. B.Ed degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade from any Regional Institute of Education that are sponsored by NCERT.

2. Botany and Zoology

Have M.Sc. B.Ed degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade from any Regional Institute of Education that are sponsored by NCERT.


Have M.Sc. B.Ed degree in life science with at 10 at least 50% marks or equivalent grade from any Regional Institute of Education.

3. Anthropology commerce friends Gandhian studies geology German home science journalism Latin music philosophy psychology Russian Social Work sociology statistics and Syriac

Possess B.Ed Degree

4. English

Possess II class master’s degree in communicative English with at least 50% marks as well as B.Ed degree

5. Hindi

“Candidates who have acquired B.Ed degree in Hindi conducted by the Dakshin Bharatha Hindi Prachar Sabha are exempted from the requirement of producing the equivalency certificate, as the degree has been recognised by the Universities in Kerala,” informs the official website.


Cleared their degree exam in any discipline with Latin as second language under paper II where in they have secured at least 50% marks. These eligibility criteria hold true only if the candidates have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for that part II.

All candidates are informed that they do not meet the eligibility criteria for KSET exam 2018 if they have secured their qualifications through recognized correspondence courses/Open Universities which are not recognized by any one of the Universities in Kerala. On the other hand, candidates who have acquired their qualification through recognized correspondence courses Open Universities should obtain and furnish certificates of recognization from any one of the Universities in Kerala States by the official website.


Candidates who possess their master’s degree with minimum required marks to meet set eligibility criteria but are currently in the final year of their B.Ed degree program also made Kerala SET 2018 eligibility criteria. Similarly, candidates who have secured their B.Ed degree and are in the final year of their post-graduation program also make the eligibility criteria. The official website states “Such candidates must produce the certificates of their qualifying examination passed  with the minimum required marks within one year from the date of publication of the results of the test, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.”

  • Relaxation of marks for SC/ST 

candidates who want to appear for Kerala SET  will be granted 5% marks relaxation in the minimum marks they need to possesses in their qualifying exam in order to be eligible to appear for SET.

  • KSET Age limit

There is no upper age limit for candidates who want to appear for KSET

Kset 2018 process

Step-1 fill the application form

candidates need to apply for Kerala set 2018 application form on the official website for KSET all candidates need to submit application form and then they required for according to the category.

Step -2. download admit card for KSET

All candidates who applied for KSET 2018 have to download the admit card 4 download admit card candidates need to fill required details in official website is application number, date of birth etc.

Step -3. appear for KSET exam

All candidates who applied for KSET 2018 need to appear for KSET exam 2013 as per the time and test center for KSET exam as per the time and test center which is mentioned in admit card kese it comprises of 2 paper of 120 minutes is paper there is paper first is common for all candidates all whereas paper II consists of questions as per candidates specific subject.
